Being Positive About HIV and Condoms 2
First thing’s first: An unidentified adult performer in Florida has *possibly* tested positive for HIV. The Free Speech Coalition has called for a moratorium on shooting porn until the patient can be identified and re-tested, and possible first and second-generation exposures have been identified.
- I can say with certainty that I’m 100% clean. I happened to have a physical last week and my doctor insisted that I be tested for pretty much everything from HIV to pregnancy to high cholesterol. (Just pdf: I’m clear on all fronts.)
- It is not certain at this point that ANY adult performer has recently tested positive for HIV. Therefore it is unreasonable to make assumptions as to the gender or sexuality of the as-yet-unconfirmed individual.
- I think it’s easy to get caught up in the politics of how this may affect different sides of the industry and forget that at the heart of this whole thing is a human being with friends and a family who may be facing a really rough and austere future. I urge anyone who feels passionate enough to engage in discussion on this whole thing to approach with compassion and diplomacy.
I think that’s all I’ve got to say about that right now.
This piece for LA Weekly that totally has a picture of me on it with a dubious assertion of my position on the condom mandate debate. Check it out:

The sexiest thing about you is your big heart. Whenever issues around a person’s suffering are talked about in public, it always stings me that people forget that there are real people at the heart of issues. <3 I love you.
