Flying Away Again

August 31, 2010 · 0 comments

I just got back from Canada and I’m again preparing to leave LA again.

I’ll be in NYC from September 9-18, so if any porn companies or producers who want to shoot when I’m out there, I still have a few days open! E-mail me: ela.darling @ gmail.com

I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I always get homesick when I travel without my husband, which is probably pathetic, but ever since I got married I just feel my heart break a little more every day when we’re apart. I guess what I’m saying is anticipate emo whiney tweets and status updates during that period.

I did it; I added a PayPal donation button. If you feel like it, go for it, but please know that there’s no expectation that people give me money.

I have found a good use for it though! Previously, if someone submitted a request through my site (via the tab next to “photos”) I would receive an email but didn’t really have any easy way of having people submit payment, so most requests sort of fell through. But now it’s easy:

1. Submit your request through my site, which sends me an email.
2. I’ll respond to the email confirming exactly what you want and tell you to make a donation through the easily accessible button on my site.
3. You make a donation in the amount discussed.
4. I’ll prepare and send whatever it is you’ve requested!

If you’ve tried to make a request for items in the past, try again and we’ll make it happen. This is SO much easier.

Yay!

New Photo Set: Sunshine

August 30, 2010 · 3 comments

I’m back in LA and I successfully avoided catching Canadian on my trip to Toronto. I will write a real blog tomorrow. And with any luck, there will be some kind of video content up by the end of the week.

I failed at posting pics last weekend because I left my Ela Darling pornodrive in LA and when I took cell phone pics to email to my WordPress I realized that I had no data roaming on my phone, so that idea was shot down.

Here’s a few of my favorite shots from this week’s set. If you click any of the photos it will take you to the gallery. I’ll make a thumbnail soon and add this set to the photo gallery tab.

My awesome web queen, Dionne, is in the process of creating a successful web store with which to purchase stockings, socks, flip flops, and panties. Tell me, dear readers (cause you’re totally buying my panties for the sake of reading the articles, really!) what would you like to see up for sale?

Toronto!

August 23, 2010 · 6 comments

I’m in Toronto taking photos of people at a Canadian tourism summit in Toronto. The photobooth is promoting Toronto’s connection to the Scott Pilgrim movie; this is one of several such events we’ve done since Comic Con.

Canadian people are ridiculously friendly but unfortunate in their style choices. It’s kind of like Australia in that way. There are lots of girls who would be really attractive if they weren’t wearing flip flops, baggy shorts, and boring tees and sweatshirts.  The only girls I’ve seen who aren’t bland and frumpy are tourists.

Maybe it’s just the area we’ve explored downtown or maybe I’m spoiled from living in LA where style ranks high above personal comfort. Several people have stopped and asked me and husbandface where we buy our clothes. When we reply that we’re from LA their responses have been nothing short of reverent.

I have lovely photos to upload but no device with which to do so.  I promise to upload some saucy sneaky photos taken in public bathrooms or wherever else I can sneak off to as soon as I get the chance.

Also coming soon to the site: videos! And a store to easily buy stockings, panties, and socks.

One darling reader suggested I post a pay pal donate button on my site. It’s something I’m generally hesitant to do because it seems to communicate a sense of expectation and entitlement. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the matter!

I’m going to NYC in September to book as much work in a week as I possibly can.if anyone knows of any porny people in need of models out there let me know!

Fuck Fashion Fetish

August 16, 2010 · 3 comments

I’ve gotten to a point in life where I’m sick of the fashion-fetish scene. I used to adore it and aspire to be one of the top models in the scene but the more time I spend around those people the more I realize that it’s not for me.

Some people are able to be wildly successful in that area, which rocks and I’m pleased for them. Then there’s the second and third tiers of people who are either striving to have notoriety (mostly models, occasionally designers or photographers) or dying to work with the people who have notoriety. And it’s just a big TFP circle jerk of namedropping, ego-fucking, and catty drama. I still love making pretty pictures with the people in that scene, I just hate being around a crowd of people at a shoot whose main discussion points are who they’re shooting with (likely for free and nobody is actually earning anything but pretty profile pics).

I guess it’s similar in porn; we gather in the green room or while doing make up and talk about who we’re working with lately. The interactions I see in porn are for the sake of networking while the interactions I see in fashion are for the sake of bragging and increasing one’s reputation in the industry.

“PornstarXXX worked with Director YYY and I’ve worked with Director ZZZ. If PornstarXXX and I trade contacts, I can work with Director YYY and she can work with Director ZZZ. We both get more paid gigs; plus, I know that if PornstarXXX works with companies I work with, she’ll bring her fans to those companies which helps me and everyone else in the long run.”

In fashion, the general vibe of the discussion is “I worked with Photographer XXX and you don’t so there. Or maybe you did, but I know the person’s real name, date of birth, and who they’re fucking, which means I’m closer to the cool people than you are.”

This isn’t to say that there’s no possibility of constructive mutually-respectful networking in the fashion or fetish-fashion industry. It’s just not as likely to happen within every tier of popularity like it does in porn. I don’t have to be a multi-AVN award winner for people to respect me as a professional.

Don’t get me wrong; I still love making pretty pictures and working with the great, creative, hard-working people in the fashion and fetish-fashion industries. But at the end of the day, I’m proud to be a pornstar. I love baring it all and not having to give a fuck about who I know or what big names I shoot with. For me, success comes from pleasing my fans, not impressing my contemporaries.

Thank God For Porn.

On that note, this week’s photo set is called Kill Your Fashion, part of a series that the fantastic Brett Michael Nelson is shooting. It was incredibly liberating to shoot, partly because there is little that is more exciting than mindless destruction, and partly because we shot this right when I was first coming to the realization that I don’t like shooting with fashion people as much anymore.
